The Office of Senator-elect Adam Schiff is seeking an energetic, community-oriented Staff Assistant based in the Fresno, Los Angeles, San Diego or San Francisco office, and under the direction of the State Director, Deputy State Director or Regional Director.

Primary Duties

  • Answers telephones
  • Greets visitors to the office
  • Assists with appointments/scheduling
  • Answers constituent requests for general information and other non-legislative inquiries
  • Maintains front office and assists with various administrative duties
  • Assists with casework intake and community engagement
  • Supervises student interns
  • Assists with other duties as assigned

Necessary Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or at least 1-2 years experience in a legislative office, political operation or other equivalent environment is required
  • The ability to handle difficult situations with courtesy, tact and compassion
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in issues specific to the region
  • Problem solving abilities
  • The ability to exercise a high degree of initiative
  • The ability to work independently and use good judgment
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Knowledge of personal computers
  • Multi-language skills a plus

Fresno, Los Angeles, San Diego or San Francisco office (CA)


Salary:

This is a full-time in-person position.  Salary is $55,000.  This position is eligible for health insurance, student loan repayment and all Senate employee benefits.
