The Office of Senator-elect Adam Schiff is seeking a National Security Advisor to serve as principal advisor on all national security, intelligence, and foreign policy issues. Deep experience across the Executive Branch and the U.S. Congress, a network of national security relationships, and an interest in not only building out a portfolio of issues, but also working on existing priorities, is required for this senior-level position. The portfolio will also include defense and veterans policy. Oversight experience and California ties are a plus, and should be noted. Must either hold an active security clearance, or the ability to attain one.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, advising the Senator-elect about issues around the globe, representing the Senator-elect in meetings with high-level representatives, developing new and existing policy priorities with an eye towards bipartisan success, and working with stakeholders both in state and DC to advance policy priorities. Additionally, the National Security Advisor will be a thought partner for the Senator-elect on all areas involving foreign policy and national security, with a particular focus on the Middle East, Europe, China, human rights, transnational repression, technology and/or democracy issues. 8-12 years of experience are required in government and public policy.
